ADHD and Cannabis

When we think of ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder), we certainly don’t think of cannabis as a solution. We often think of young students in classrooms who gain more focus when prescribed Ritalin or Adderoll.

There are also a number of other pharmaceutical drugs that are prescribed to children for ADHD.

While CBD can be prescribed to children for very specific circumstances (ie. CBD as a treatment for epilepsy), the common thinking is that children should not use THC, and if they do, it could cause problems, including ADHD.

But adults have ADHD too.

Here’s an interesting article by Mary Biles in Project CBD that explores the possibility of using THC for attention disorders.

It’s not a survey of the research because there’s so little of it.

This article relies on some interesting findings by doctors in the U.K. who have prescribed small amounts of cannabis for ADHD and achieved good outcomes.

While it does seem to go against our norms, there seems to be potential here. If you’re interested, this article is clear and well written and provides a compelling, thorough discussion of the topic.
