One of the newer cannabinoids to hit the market is HHC. This interesting alternative shows up as a possible replacement for CBD and/or THC.
It's actually not 'newer,' because it's not new. HHC is in the plant, but in a very small amount. What's new is that it's being converted from THC into amounts usable for making a variety of new products.
HHC is converted from THC through the process of hydrogenation.
The effects of HHC are similar to THC. There is unconfirmed anecdotal evidence that it may not show up on some drug tests as being THC.
HHC fans report that its effect is similar to Delta-8, with a physically calming attribute. Some say it’s a cannabinoid to be enjoyed during the day rather than before sleep. Others say the opposite, that it helps with sleep. So the jury is still out on what people like about HHC — but they do like it. That said, people say the same thing about other cannabinoids because they also affect different people in different ways.
HHC has a shelf-life advantage over THC and CBD. Cannabinoids can degrade over time and lose their potency. THC, for example, which does have a psychoactive effect, degrades over time into CBN, which does not have a psychoactive effect but is often used for sleep. HHC will keep its potency longer because it's a more stable molecule than THCs or CBD.
