How long do edibles take?
People who are new to cannabis often ask how long it takes for an edible to take effect?
Tinctures seem to work a little faster. Vape carts and smoking are almost immediate.
But edibles such as gummies, chocolate, or taffy need to be digested before entering the bloodstream, so they take a little longer to take effect. Some say the effect seems to last a little longer.
THC has a psychoactive effect, whereas CBD is more subtle. This causes a THC gummy to be detected quicker than a CBD gummy, so it may seem like THC works faster than CBD.
As a very average, very general guideline, you can expect to feel the effects of a gummy in one to three hours, and expect it to last six to eight hours.
But there are other variables that impact the delivery time, and how long it lasts, such as:
•age
•body weight
•body chemistry
•severity of the condition you’re treating
•the strength of the gummy or other edible
•level of tolerance
Thus, we’re all different, so finding the right number of milligrams, the right time of day, and the right CBD/THC ratios for our situation is unique to us.
For newbies, this requires a bit of experimentation. We always recommend start low and go slow.
