The North Carolina State House is currently considering Senate Bill 3, which aims to legalize medical marijuana in the state. However, with numerous new bills entering the scene, it begs the question – is more regulation truly necessary?
In a video interview, Rod Kight explores the rapidly changing landscape of the hemp industry in North Carolina, comparing it to more regulated states. He highlights how the current system, with separate tracks for marijuana (state-regulated) and hemp (regulated by the Federal Farm Bill), may be more beneficial for both customers and businesses.
Kight argues that North Carolina already has access to products available in other states and that Senate Bill 3 could essentially transfer control of the industry to just 10 vertically integrated businesses. He also discusses potential future regulation from the DEA, FDA, and even Big Pharma.
